In case you didnt receive our year-end e-appeal, please read the story of Clementine, and consider making a last-minute donation at https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/MRFRS?code=2014%20Year%20End%20E-Appeal-- its not too late! Dear Friends, Your generosity has made so much magic happen already this year for the cats at MRFRS…and we are so grateful to each of you who have donated to our holiday appeal. But if you haven’t made your year-end donations yet, please read the story of darling Clementine and consider making your gift today, before the year ends. Clementine, a five-week-old kitten, was rushed into our adoption center by a Good Samaritan who spotted her late in the afternoon on Black Friday. She was lying in a snow bank barely moving, near her mother who had been hit by a car and killed. Normal body temperature for a cat is between 101-102 degrees, but Clementine’s measured at just 95.7 and she was barely responsive. Our medical coordinator, Brit Fox Hover, did the first thing she could think of to warm her up—putting little Clementine under her shirt—while our adoption center staff warmed up rice bags and called our vet at Newbury Animal Hospital. Although it was late on a Friday, the staff at Newbury thankfully told us to bring the kitten right in. Truly concerned about whether Clementine would survive, Director of Operations Liz Pease drove to the vet’s office so that Brit could continue trying to warm the little kitten up. Newbury took her right in, and we’re so pleased to report that they were able to get Clementine’s body temperature up fairly quickly and, against all odds, she will survive and thrive. Today, she’s recuperating in foster care at Brit’s house, quickly making friends with another MRFRS cat with an inspiring story, Ollivander. Every cat and kitten we save, help, and rehome happens for only one reason: your generosity and loving hearts. Your investment in our work fuels our passion to make the world a better place for cats, whether they are owned or free-roaming, healthy or sick. Please make a donation today to ensure that we can continue to help cats in need like Clementine flourish despite their challenges. On behalf of the cats – and especially Clementine – we thank you and wish you a Happy and Healthy New Year! -Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society
