Best, The ODD SQUAD Casting Team CASTING NOTICE FOR KIDS 8-12yrs Seeking young actors for a new PBS Kids series! “ODD SQUAD” is a new live-action series that follows the adventures of two kid agents as they investigate weird activity in their town and figure out how to put things right again. LOOKING FOR THE FOLLOWING CHARACTERS: [AGENT OLIVE] (Series Lead) ***REVISED 9-12 years. Female A whip-smart, confident, and super serious girl. Olive is a seasoned veteran of Odd Squad who reacts stone-faced to the ridiculous since she’s seen it all before. As serious as Olive may seem, she is not above pulling a practical joke or making a quip, all of which are delivered without cracking a smile. The only time Olive does lose her cool is when it comes to sports. She is a rabid sports fan and can talk stats about everything from basketball to hockey to football to baseball to curling to bobsled racing to, well, everything. Olive is methodical in her investigations and is always backing up her hunches with evidence. Her one flaw is she can be too focused. She can get so wrapped up calculating the rate at which a cat is doubling in size, that she won’t realize said giant cat is about to crush her. Luckily for Olive she has a new partner that more than makes up for this flaw. Please note: Production is looking for a strong performer who can carry the show. [AGENT OTTO] (Series Lead) ***REVISED 9-12 years. Male Wild card! Thrill-seeker! Life of the party! Rookie Agent Otto is an excitable 9-year-old boy who is seeing all this weird, bizarre, unusual stuff for the first time… and loving every second of it. As goofy as Otto may be, he is an essential member of the team. He has a way of diffusing tense situations like pointing out to the Incredible Shrinking Mailman – “Hey, at least this way you can spend less money on food.” While Olive focuses on facts and figures, Otto trusts his gut. Sometimes this leads them on a wild goose chase, but more often than not, it’s Otto’s out-of-the-box thinking that helps Olive bust a case wide open. Please note: Production is looking for a strong performer who can carry the show. [MS O] (Series Lead) ***REVISED 8-10 years. (Actor must look 8 years) Female The director of Odd Squad Precinct #13579 who gives Olive and Otto their assignment at the beginning of each episode. Ms. O is an overworked, lovable grump who is always barking orders at her agents and talking about how she’s “getting too young for this.” A former Odd Squad agent herself, Ms. O sometimes goes out in the field to help with difficult cases or when a case gets personal. She may or may not have a juice-drinking problem. Please note: Production wants the character to be very authoritarian but look young and petite. Actor should have great comedy chops! [SPECIAL AGENT OSCAR] (Series Lead) ***REVISED 8-11 years. Male Ms. O’s sweet, eager beaver 11-year-old assistant who is possibly the oddest member of Odd Squad. He’s a little bit of a mess, always dropping files or mixing up assignments. He gives Olive and Otto gadgets to help with missions and runs the Odd Squad lab. Please note: Production is looking for a real character actor for this part. Actor should have a unique appearance and approach to the role.
