Free Zumba Class Heidi Ruiz of Rumba Fitness will lead a beginners Zumba class at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the Deltona Regional Library, 2150 Eustace Ave. The fitness routine is designed to strengthen, sculpt and tone muscles. The free class is part of the month-long Get Healthy @ Your Library program sponsored by the Volusia County Public Library system. Reservations are not required. Flamenco Dance & live music presentation Flamenco dancer and choreographer Niurca Márquez and composer and guitarist José Luis Rodríguez will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at the Deltona Regional Library. Niurca Marquez, combines flamenco with contemporary interpretations of tradition from other artistic disciplines. Her work has been presented in Europe and the US and has been part of Flamenco Empirico in Spain. Rodríguez has accompanied some of the most important figures of Flamenco song and dance. He was the musical director and composer of Cristina Hoyos’ Flamenco dance company for nine years. Light refreshments will be served. Hurricane Presentation with Tony Mainolfi Tuesday, October 7 at 10:00 a.m. at the Deltona Regional Library. WESH 2 First Alert Chief Meteorologist Tony Mainolfi will present Hurricane Survival 2014. The presentation will review this years hurricane season thus far. Mainolfi can be seen weekdays on WESH 2 News, as well as WESH 2 News on CW18. A Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM), Mainolfi holds a seal of approval from the National Weather Association and has been nominated for four Emmys. Memoir-writing Presentation Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at 11 am at the Deltona Regional Library. Retired radio announcer Dave Archard will discuss the craft of writing a memoir. Archard will recount writing his own memoir, Through Slanted Windows: A Journey into Radio, which traces his 50 years in the broadcasting profession. He worked at several stations in Florida, including WALT in Tampa and WFUN in Miami. He later worked at WNDB and WROD in Daytona Beach and has done on-camera and outreach assignments for WDSC Channel 15. Reservations are not required for this free presentation. Participants will also learn lifestyle strategies that exercise your brain, your body and boost memory skills. A brain-nourishing snack will be served. Bat Workshop Shari Blissett-Clark will dispel common myths and misconceptions about bats at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, at the Deltona Regional Library, 2150 Eustace Ave. Blissett-Clark, a board member of the Florida Bat Conservancy, will share vivid images of the mysterious mammals and outline the important roles they play in healthy, balanced ecosystems. Master Gardener Howard Jeffries will explain how container gardening is as rewarding as a full-size garden during a free program at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Deltona Regional Library, 2150 Eustace Ave. Participants will learn how to grow healthy fruits, vegetables and herbs. Jeffries will discuss what plants to use; container selection; and the light, water and fertilizer requirements of container gardens. Reservations are not required. Big Red Bus” Bloodmobile Wednesday, October 22, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. OneBlood’s “Big Red Bus” will be stationed in the parking lot of the Deltona Regional Library & LEC complex.
