In case you missed our letter to the editor last week where we announced our 2013 results! The SayHey Board of Directors would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who sponsored, volunteered, and participated in this year’s SayHey5k and Mascot Run the last weekend in June. The outpouring of support we received has truly highlighted Chaska’s community spirit! The SayHey5k was created in 2011 to raise awareness, engagement, and funds for the vitality of Downtown Chaska, with 100% of profits staying local. We are an official not-for-profit 501(c )(3) entity and all contributions, including registrations, are tax deductible. 2013 RESULTS: AWARNESS: Signs, banners, superhero cutouts, floor and window graphics, in-store promotions, virtual projections on buildings and water towers, Facebook and even a bright orange SW Transit bus helped us reach over 10 million media impressions! ENGAGEMENT: The 1st annual Mascot Run drew 150 children participants with 20 Mascots in attendance including Viktor the Viking, Nordy, Mrs. Minnesota, Dilly the Gedney Pickle, and many other local favorites. Our 3rd annual SayHey5k attracted 1,100 registrants and included a special post-race concert by “The Voice” contestant, Tim Mahoney (including an original ‘SayHey5k’ song!). Between participants, spectators and volunteers, the SayHey weekend engaged over 2,000 people! FUNDS: Our 2013 participation and sponsorship enabled us to raise $15,000 for Downtown Chaska! Funds will be used for downtown signage improvement and will be guided by Chaska’s Downtown Business Alliance. We would like to convey a special thanks to the Chaska American Legion who, once again, opened up their business to host the pre-registration, spaghetti dinner, and post-race lunch. Another special thanks to the City of Chaska for their continued support and partnership. Sponsors enable the success of this event and we extend our gratitude to our main sponsors: Chaska Lions, Wally’s, Klein Bank, Cuzzy’s, Dunn Bros Coffee, Chaska Town Course, Prime Mortgage, The Healy Family, Guardian Angels, Business Impact Group, Tempo Investments, Klein Financial Services, Z Wireless (Verizon), Chaska Downtown Business Alliance, Ridgeview Medical, Chaska Valley Veterinary, Wagner Press, TMG, Southwest Transit, Grace Gibson Foundation, La La Land, The Bernard Group, Chaska Herald and the City of Chaska. Other key donors included: St. John’s Church, Chaska Rotary, Valley Free Church, Chaska BBQ Bash, SW Christian School, Logan’s Repair, Kiwanis’s, Westbrook Church, Bridge Realty, Chaska Mill, Bertas Funeral Home, Party Crashers, New Horizon, Party Fundamentals, Kelly Cotton Photography, Smartpress, Heger’s Dairy, Culvers, Locher Bros, and Little Caesars. Last, but certainly not least, we want to say thank you to our incredible volunteers. This year we had over 100 volunteers step up to the plate and help make it all happen! A shout out to a few organizations that went above and beyond: Boy Scout Troop #174, Valley Free Church, Launch Ministries, City of Chaska, and the Chaska Lions. We are enthused by the continued support of the community and we are already looking forward to the next year’s events! Mark your calendars now, the SayHey5k is, and always will be, the last weekend of June. Learn more at sayhey5k.
