In case you thought my obsession with my Kickstarter was eclipsing my civic duty, I gave public testimony today at this hearing. The gist of my statement is that we are being bamboozled ( it was a perfect opportunity to use that word, garnering approving murmurs) into reconfiguring the Portland water infrastructure, that our City Council, Water Bureau and the OHA did not offer adequate resistance to the unnecessary regulation to cover reservoirs, and that my concern was that by inflating the debt load of our water system we make it vulnerable to corporate takeover. If anyone thinks I am some kind of conspiracy nut, I will post a link in the comments which deftly limns the situation in the context of world-wide efforts to seize control of water resources, which should in my opinion be one thing we all have a fundamental right to have a share of.
