In cherished memory of Rudy, a gray, brown, and white tabby cat - TopicsExpress

In cherished memory of Rudy, a gray, brown, and white tabby cat who was like a kitten her whole life, both in looks and personality. She was a very petite gal, never bigger than about 6 pounds, and so sweet and friendly. Rudy had been living on the street for about the first year of her life, and although she was unfortunately a “teenage mother,” she found her human mom and dad, and fit in right away to become a wonderful family member. Although Rudy was such a sweet girl, and physically rather small, she was the one who ruled the house over her much larger cat-brother, Cody. When Rudy was unlucky enough to develop breast cancer, her mom did all the right things for her, including have surgery and chemotherapy, and also stopping the chemotherapy once it was no longer the best thing for Rudy. Even in the past week that I had the pleasure of knowing Rudy and her mom, it was very clear how dedicated she was; Rudy had a veritable smorgasbord of foods lined up to tempt her to eat, and her mom, who works from home, spent a good portion of the day caring for her, giving her medications and fluids, and just keeping her comfortable. Once it was clear that it was best for Rudy to say goodbye, her mom was strong enough to do this as well, and Rudy passed away so peacefully, still cuddled in her cat-bed on the human bed, with Cody and her mom right by her side to the very end.
