In commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War, the Lincoln Memorial Shrine currently has two exhibits on display. “1863: The Turning Point” focuses on the game-changing events of 1863. Included are displays on the battles of Gettysburg and Vicksburg, as well as the New York City Draft Riots, and Abraham Lincoln’s defense of the Emancipation Proclamation. This exhibit will close in late January 2015. The second exhibit, “1864: This Mighty Scourge of War,” focuses on the dramatic events that took place during the bloodiest year of the war. Original manuscripts from figures such as Abraham Lincoln, Mary Todd Lincoln, Gen. Ulysses S. Grant, and Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman are combined with contemporary and current illustrations to convey the important developments of the fourth year of the war. The exhibit will remain open until late January 2016. Visit The Lincoln Memorial Shrine Tuesday - Sunday from 1 - 5 pm. 125 W. Vine Street (behind the A.K. Smiley Public Library) Redlands, CA 92373 (909) 798-7636
