In conclusion – The gifts of the Spirit are the power of the New Covenant. The goal of the New Covenant is to write the ordnances of God on the fleshly tablets of our hearts. By praying in the Spirit (tongues) we communicate with God our innermost secrets and our Spirit prays the things we do not know to pray. This gift is for the individual and builds them up. The other gifts are more for the corporate body and its edification. This power is for the express purpose of making us like Christ. Head knowledge will not do it. Tradition will not do it. Denominational church attendance will not do it. The only thing our silly pride will do is hinder the process. This is what Christ sent from the Father. This is what he ordained for us to advance in the New Covenant that he died for. To deny this is to say that Christ did not know what was best for us and that he died in vain. From a friend!
