In conversation with some individuals yesterday, I learned that the stores at Assembly Row have become a bit of a magnet for shoplifters. The Nike Outlet sees thieves come in and basically grab a bunch of sneakers and leave and company policy prohibits any physical intervention by store security. To which I say; Why do they even HAVE security then? By contrast, the Saks Fifth Avenue store recently had an incident where store security tackled a shoplifter to the ground. That had to be a scene. I figure that with the Orange Line station being opened now, and until things get underway in earnest with the Partners Healthcare office complex, people will be parking there and taking the train to work in Boston until the City and/or local merchants get tough on it and start towing/ticketing. Meanwhile, look for break-ins of cars to spike. When they talk about draining public safety resources, this is the type of stuff that happens. Wonder if theyll end up putting a satellite precinct down there?
