In days of recent yore we tend to use the terms garbage and trash - TopicsExpress

In days of recent yore we tend to use the terms garbage and trash interchangeably. However the older generation can remember when we placed two separate containers out at the curb until the intervention of the garbage disposal in the sink and the trash disposal under the counter in the kitchen. The terms still apply today as the garbage disposal is used for organic material that can be grounded into a biodegradable state to pass through the waste piping systems and eventually to be recycled. The trash goes into a trash container for pick-up at the curb. The younger generation doesnt seem to remember the difference of these terms since they were probably born after the garbage disposals were introduced. Yet they still miss-use the term garbage cans when, in fact, they are trash cans. Bones down the garbage disposal is not a good idea since they are not biodegradable. Example: we wouldnt know much of the existence of dinosaurs if it werent for the bones, except for fossilized tracks. We would only know that they existed but not what the looked like. This is why we should put the bones in the trash cans and not down the garbage disposals where they can clog up our waste plumbing and settle at the bottom of our rivers, lakes streams or oceans. Remember, trash goes out at the curb; except bones, garbage goes down the sink.
