In dear memory of Kohlie, a black lab mix from Hawthorn Woods. Poor Kohlie had a happy life with a dad who loved her, but when he became ill then passed away, she was left with no one to take her in. As a 14 year old 100-pound dog, she would surely never have found a home if she were just given to a shelter. Kohlie’s extended family thought she was just too big to take in, and called her “a beast,” although her personality was far from this. Very fortunately for sweet Kohlie, she became part of an incredibly loving family, who realized that although they might not have her for very long, her life was still precious and they welcomed her with open arms. Kohlie was a “tough old broad” and despite some physical issues, she persevered through them, and remained her normal, upbeat self. Kohlie was loved and spoiled so much that she continued to do well for an additional 3 years with her new family, and was so happy here. Kohlie’s body could no longer keep up with her strong spirit, and this evening she was set free. Kohlie was surrounded by her loved ones on her comfy bed as she became comfortable and began to snore blissfully, bringing a smile to her family’s faces to the very end. Lucky Kohlie will not even have to wait at the Rainbow Bridge, as her dad is surely there already, waiting to be reunited with his beloved girl.
