In every print media of the country to-day, the news of the leak of the report, known as Henderson-Brooks, on the causes of Indian debacle in the war against China occupied headline. Journalist Neville Maxwell, who is well known for his famous book ‘Indias China War’, uploaded few relevant sections of the report which reveal without ambiguity that it was a Nehru’s plan to attack China against the advice of the then military establishment. It was really an India’s China War, not Indo-China War. However, there is nothing new in this revelation, because Neville himself published summary of that report before where Nehru was mentioned as “the immediate agents of disaster: its responsible planners and architects”. In April, 2001 Neville published an article “Henderson Brooks Report: An Introduction” in EPW. [Those who do not have the access to the achieves of EPW may find Neville’s full article (EPW April, 2001) here social-praxis.blogspot.in/p/henderson-brooksreport-introduction-it.html]. No one had noticed that article and no hue and cry were raised by any one from politics. Media also did not consider the documentary analysis of mischievous act of Nehru provided in that article as an important issue. Now, suddenly those known facts become very serious and every one starts talking as if something very secret has come out from a hidden black box. Fact is that, even at the time of 1962 war, several left parties and groups like SUCI and a section of CPI (pro-Chinese group who later formed CPI-M) had been able to analyze Nehru’s political motive behind that adventurism and openly denied to accept Nehru’s ploy of describing the incident as ‘unprovoked aggression’ on India by People’s Republic of China. Nehru, at that point of time, had hidden political agenda to fulfil at the cost of humiliating defeat of unprepared Indian army.
