In exploring the selfs archetypes, one inevitably encounters Narcissus - both the light and shadow aspects. The two-dimensional aspect caught in selfish causes and surface level - and the multi-dimensional search for deeper understanding of psychology, purpose, and meaning. Both aspects come into play in our lives. Heres my facebook, throwback thursday or flashback friday whatever for example; a performance of one example of the myth of Narcissus - this one loosely based on Ovids telling of the story, which most of us know (minus Echo and with a gay twist). I actually find Ovids tale responsible for our shallow definition and experience of the myth of Narcissus, but as found in many myths there are several variations. I shall explore some of those variations at 40RTE, my birthday party performance Im hosting on Saturday, December 27. How could I not explore Narcissus at such an event? Other versions of the myth we rarely know involve a twin sister and/or the fact that his father was a river god.
