In four days I was treated to a smorgasbord of some of the most exquisite riches Ecuador has to offer. I began on the snow- capped peak of Cotopaxi; my bike tires leaving tracks in the snow as I descended the moon-like terrain of the mountain. Snow quickly faded as I made my way to beautiful emerald colored crater lakes. Over the 4 days I was stunned at the picturesque indigenous farming tapestry, the vast diversity of landscapes, smoking volcanoes, Ecuadorian food, and the friendly, inviting hosts of our overnight stays. The tour finished in the breathtaking Amazon jungle basin. I have biked most of my life but this trip was an experience like no other I have had before. It is hard to put into words just how beautiful and exciting the tour was. From the beginning of the trip to the enjoyable drive back to my Tumbaco accommodation with our incredible guide Jan, I felt like I had been transported through a magical storybook. He provided an adventure that I will remember as the highlight of my time in Ecuador. Thank you Jan (Biking Dutchman).
