In her letter to the Kirkland Reporter, Jody Wilson complains about negative campaign mailers directed at Matt Isenhower, asking Why should we allow a handful of outsiders to influence our precious votes?. She apparently hasnt done enough research on the PDC web site, where the following facts are easily discovered: Washington Conservation Voters Action Fund has already spent over $215,000 on nine mailers attacking Andy Hill. Washington Conservation Voters Action Fund received $750,000 in contributions from NextGen Climate Action Committee Washington. NextGen Climate Action Committee Washington has received $1,250,100 in contributions, of which $1,250,000 came from one person -- Tom Steyer, a billionaire hedge fund manager who lives in San Francisco, California. The Leadership Council, which funded the mailers directed at Isenhower, is the independent expenditure fund of the Washington State Senate Republican Caucus. All of its board members -- the five people Jody mentions -- live and do business in Washington. They are directly affected by the makeup of the Washington state senate, and have very legitimate interest in who is elected to set policy in the state. The Leadership Council board members seek funds from people all across Washington to pool together to support candidates who they think will do the best job possible to create jobs and support the economy of Washington. If you look at the PDC web site, you will see that the contributors to The Leadership Council are a very diverse group -- insurers, restaurant owners, community health clinics, home builders, tribes, commercial property owners, dentists, hospitals, retailers, realtors, labor unions for public school employees and health care workers, trucking companies, farmers, orchardists, high tech companies such as Microsoft, general contractors, telecommunications companies, and many many others. The Leadership Council is NOT just five guys in Centralia. The Leadership Council represents thousands and thousands of people who care deeply about what happens in our state senate, including many who live and do business in the 45th District. The money they raise is predominantly from Washingtonians. But where is the money coming from to attack Andy Hill? Mostly from one billionaire hedge fund manager who lives in California and has no business interests at all in the 45th District. And Tom Steyer is doing the same thing in state legislative campaigns all around the country -- spending millions of dollars to try to install legislators who will vote his way on his one pet issue: global warming. So, Jody, just who is the real outsider trying to influence our precious votes? My analysis is that it is Matt Isenhower who is most benefitting from big-money outside influencers, not Andy Hill. And thats just one more reason why I endorsed and have voted to re-elect our state senator, Andy Hill.
