In his address at The National Consultation Workshop on ‘Industry- Career Centre- ITI Collaboration’, he reassured that the primary goal of Skill development Ministry is to provide gainful employment to the youth of the Nation. He stated that the main focus of the skill development schemes is to ensure outcome and performance (measured in terms of percentage of persons actually placed in wage or self employment, based on National Skill Qualification framework). He recalled the launch of the ‘Skill India‘ programme in our current budget, and stated that the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has already declared the importance of skill development in his development agenda plan. He further stated that Besides Centre which is undertaking massive multi-skill development schemes it is an equal prerogative of the States and their functionaries to implement all these schemes in their land. He iformed about a Committee set up to rationalize the schemes as per the feedback received from the States Governments and the Government intention to have convergence of norms across the various central schemes for skill development, based on feed back. Hon’ble Minister of State (I/C) Shri. Sarbananda Sonowal further urged that all the State Skill Development Missions should be given more power and direction to make them effective nodal bodies which can anchor the skill development agenda in the States
