In his book, Four Quartets, T.S Eliot says: What we call the beginning is often the end. And to make an end is to make a beginning. The end is where we start from. In the build up to the election that produced Senator Abiola Ajimobi as Governor of Oyo State, many people , even from the opposition party(s), participated positively. When political appointments were to be made, the Governor said he wanted to work with technocrats in order to reposition things which have gone awry. Not few were happy. The joy was short-lived as the Governor gave partymen the shocker of their lives. Most of the names forwarded to the State Assembly were foreign based, some of them were donated. Is His Excellency telling us that technocrats are neither in the party nor the State? And I asked: what is technocracy? Is somebody, for example, that has been teaching for over 20 years not a technocrat? He neglected many of those who worked for his electoral success and appointed those he wanted (not even from his so called SENACO). When he realised that these individuals have no foot at home, he decided to lay them off and he sacked them altogether. Now, he has problem choosing another set. His ability to reject influence from madam at the top may make or mar his government. #WeAreWatching!
