In his letter to his promising student Timothy, Paul, originally - TopicsExpress

In his letter to his promising student Timothy, Paul, originally Saul of Tarsus urges him to pray for everyone or all people. It is the passage quoted many times during administrations in the past. It is the passage that supports that idea that a Christian or Christ follower has the responsibility to pray for his/her government independent of their political view. This note is a request to the Christian church to not make this text an exception to our present administration. This text was a word of instruction to a young religious leader or someone who was in training to become a leader in a community. The message of this text is a message of peace and it can be applied to all independent of ones creeds, religion, believes or non believes. Lets read or re- read this text not only when we have a commander and chief that is part of our political party. Lets not re-interpret or even manipulate a text to only benefit those whom we please. This message includes us pray for Mr. President Obama and his administration. This is an opportunity for all the Christians who voted for either party to show love for this country and this earth by praying for the present administration, all the nations and for people on this earth. Here it is what Apostle Paul wrote to his student Timothy, 1 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior…” -1 Timothy 2:1-3
