In his only planned US concert for 2014, aside from the Bay Area and Washington, D.C., acclaimed experimental musician Richard Pinhas will perform two concerts in Grand Rapids, Michigan in addition to teaching an online course for The Global Center for Advanced Studies entitled The Refrain: Electronic Music After Pinhas & Deleuze, May 23/24, 2014. A seminal figure in the avante-garde electronic music of the French Seventies, Richard Pinhas played electric guitar and synths with his group HELDON, as well as Noël Akchoté, MERZBOW, Oren Ambarchi and Pascal Comelade. He has also collaborated with the writers Gilles Deleuze, Norman Spinrad, Maurice Dantec. The music of Richard Pinhas and Heldon has always been independent and relentlessly innovative and remains a great influence in the world of electronic music as well as experimental rock, as evidenced by his recent collaboration with Étienne Jaumet (Zombie Zombie).
