In his speech this afternoon, President Obama told the story of Caitlin McLawhorn, who was raised by a single mom and helped make ends meet by starting work at age 16. Financial hardship prompted her to take advantage of two free years at Pellissippi State Community College, after which she transferred to Maryville College.
