In his years as sheriff of Logan, West Virginia(1920s), my grandfather Tennyson Hatfield, Devil Anses youngest son, purchased army surplus rifles for himself and his men. The guns were 1895 Winchesters in a 30-40 Krag caliber, a smokeless cartridge developed in the 1890s by the U.S.military. My uncle Henry got his gun along with other Hatfield guns. He put a lot of them on display in his home in Sarah Ann, West Va.. He sent my dad William Grant Hatfield, Tenniss rifle and my dad left it to me. Today, for the first time, Tennysons gun will roar in Oklahoma. My daughter Charity and her husband are taking me to a gun range in OKC after a birthday lunch. I will also be shooting my dads 30-06 and some others. Great way to spend my birthday.
