In honor of International Overdose Awareness Day, the Fayette County Heroin Task Force invites you to a memorial event 2PM Saturday, Aug. 23 at Jacobson Park. This event will begin at 2:00 pm with a brief presentation and a ceremonial planting of a tree in honor of lives lost to heroin. Afterwards, free kites will be given out to all those in attendance for kite flying and recreation. The flying of the kites is a symbolic gesture of us finding a way to help others rise above and fly over their addictions. Please invite as many people as you can. This is a family-friendly invite and guests of all ages are welcome. Even if you have not been affected directly or indirectly by heroin, please come and show your support for those who have. This is about hope. If you have any questions, please contact Sharon Tankersley at 859-225-3296 ext. 658 or [email protected].
