In honor of National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day (today!), I - TopicsExpress

In honor of National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day (today!), I wanted share a few things about CP and my daughter Lexi. Lexi has Cerebral Palsy. Unfortunately there is no known cure for CP, it is not a priority for research funding, and none of the current available treatments for CP are estimated to provide more than an average 4-10% gain for the individuals impacted. However, Lexi can do so much more than we ever expected, more than anybody ever expected. We celebrate “LuBug” everyday. We celebrate her little accomplishments, we celebrate what she almost does, we celebrate what she did yesterday, but couldnt quite do today. She is our daughter, she made us a mom and dad, and we love her more than we could ever imagine. But that is not enough, we must do more. So what can you do? Next time you see someone with CP or another disability, please take a moment to stop and think, think about Lexi. Please dont assume, dont call names or judge. You are looking at a person, not a disability. Want to do even more? Visit Reaching for the Stars. A Cerebral Palsy Foundation. to learn more and help improve the lives of children with Cerebral Palsy.
