In honor of Veterans Day I am profiling some of my greatest hero Vets. Jose Ignacio Martinez. Joined the Army in 1938 and happened to be stationed in Hawaii during the Pearl Harbor attack. He joined the Army Air Force and was sent to fight in North Africa where he helped liberate Libya and Tunisia. During the war, he inspired his younger brother to join the Army. In November 1943, After 2 years of combat, he was on a transport ship, the HMT Rohna which was struck by German cruise missiles and he died along with 1200 other heroes. His brother was on another ship and saw it happen. SSGT Martinez is buried in the American WWII Cemetery in Tunisia, his brother went on to liberate France and Poland including several concentration camps. Till the day he died, he had a picture of Jose hanging in his living room. #heroes #veteransday
