In honor of my friend, David W. Fatu Kekula was featured on CNN for her amazing work in saving her family members from Ebola after they were infected by successfully treating them. This young woman was a nursing student in Liberia, and using garbage bags and her skill she managed to create a makeshift protective suit for herself, allowing herself to treat her family, and avoid getting infected herself. Because of the Ebola crisis in Liberia, her nursing school (and most others) were shut down. To complete her education, Im so proud to share that she is coming to Emory! There is a non-profit group that is going to help finance this, but they need assistance to make this reality - and she is set to come in January, so time is short. I remember her story from when it first aired on CNN, and am honored that Emory can be a part of her continuing growth and education.
