In intervals between reading or writing, singing and shouting, I - TopicsExpress

In intervals between reading or writing, singing and shouting, I am, and remain, an uncured people watcher. As a benevolent observer of the ebb and floe of human flotsam and jetsam, their actions seem to fall somewhere between the repetitiveness of Pavlovs dogs and the more ethereal of Rorschacha Ink Blots. But it is in throes of this mental malady that the profundities of humanity resonates and speaks to me. The Madame left me in the truck today while she went into Sallys, doing whatever women do in Sallys. Left alone in in the fertile thought of free association, it happened again. It occurred to me that people morph from the perfect symmetry of youthfulness into the asymmetric shape of age. It just sneaks up on you and no one can predict when it will happen. It could be slow and imperceptible, or it could attack all at once like a bad dream. Such an experience of aging should bring with it wisdom. But do let me tell you that old age brings with it no guarantee of wisdom - far from it, any more than old age is a predictor of good manners. Country folk used to say, There aint no fool like an old fool. I dont think it just happens, I think it has been there all along! Shhhhh! Must go. The Madame is back from Sallys, so I must now resume our pleasant Anniversary weekend. Thanks for the chat!
