In just a few hours the 26th anniversary of the death of one fantastic woman will be marked. I had the incredible privilege of calling her Mom. Typically I would post some memories of her but this past week has had some events that make me want to post some thoughts instead. A long time friend of mine lost his beautiful, vibrant, 24 year old niece in a car accident. My cousins lost their mother, a beautiful woman inside and out, in a horrible tragedy. Another friend watched her daughter go through brain surgery to remove cancer, again. Completely separate but weighing on my heart is the level of human depravity I have seen in the treatment of an animal. I know my beautiful mom would approve of the message I want to convey: Be kind. Be loving. Be respectful. Dont waste one single minute not showing those you love how much you love them. Life is so incredibly tenuous. And life is hard. Lets let our love for one another be the strongest, most sincere message we send. Thank you, Mom, for teaching me so much about love in such a short amount of time. Thank you, God, for the blessings in my life. And please, God comfort those experiencing the pain of loss, the feeling of depression, the feeling of angst. Bring those with us and those who have left us, peace. My mother had a beautiful soul and an amazing capacity to love. You could see it in the twinkle of her eyes and the genuineness of her smile. What a gift!
