In late August of 2013, in Truth or Consequences, NM, still facing 30 years in prison, the man I love had a vision of me... as St. Joan... But not going up in flames this time... This is not your hill to die on... Im youre wingman, he said. The next morning I woke feeling St. Joan and a text came in, from Krsnaa Fitch, telling me she was going to produce George Bernard Shaws, St Joan in April. I was born in April. In the three years that I had known Krsnaa, she had only ever texted me once. I knew it was a very very good sign... A sign that somehow, against all odds, my wingman was right and it was not indeed my irreducible fate to spend the rest of my useful life in a prison... That somehow I would be home in Gainesville in April, 2014. And here I am, having (with the blessed help of an awesome brave judge, brilliant friends, spiritual guides and the ancestors) set a precedent that will make real inroads possible to change a terrible law, invited to speak at Krsnaas fundraiser for St. Joan... Tonight. I dont know the all of it, but this cannot be only about me... I have been broken and crushed and resurrected and mended... For a reason... Something is being called forth from the Great Mystery through this play... Somehow the production of this play is opening a doorway... Perhaps simply the reminder that when we follow our intuition against all reasonable odds, were not delusional if it turns our voices were right. I encourage all of you who live in Gainesville to attend this production which will be, indeed already is, touched with inexplicable magic. And if any of you are free tonight, please come to the fundraiser and give what you can... Especially your supportive energetic presence... I have no idea what Joan is going to say tonight...
