In lieu of presents and with my consistent attempt to try to change the world below is my Christmas list to my family, and I thought hey, why not share it with the online world too! Here is a list of things you can do for my present. I have one request, that by Christmas you hand me some kind of documentation youve done something on the list. A note, photo, poem, handmade booklet of the things you did. 1. Tweet/Facebook/text message a genuine compliment to three people right now. 2. Bring doughnuts (or a healthy treat, like cut-up fruit) to work to share with co workers. 3. While youre out, compliment a parent on how well-behaved their child is. 4. Hold the door open for someone. 5. When everyone around you is gossiping about someone, be the one to butt in with something nice. 6. Cook a meal or do a load of laundry for a friend who just had a baby or is going through a difficult time. 7. If you walk by a car with an expired parking ticket, get them a new one. 8. Smile at someone on the street, just because. 9. Let someone into your lane. Theyre probably in a rush just like you. 10. Forgive someone, and never bring up the issue again. 11. Talk to the shy person whos sitting by themselves at a party. 12. Buy a homeless person a coffee or a meal or give them a 10 dollar gift card to Timmys or somewhere like that. 13. Cut someone some slack. 14. Help a mother with her baby stroller. 15. When you are near a trash can and see a few pieces of garbage, pick them up and throw them out. 16. Let the person behind you at the supermarket checkout with one or two items go ahead of you. 17. Write someone a letter. Like a real letter, on paper. And mail it! 18. Give away stuff for free on Craigslist. 19. Do a favour for a person even if it puts you out, and dont complain. 20. Give someone a book you think theyd like. 21. Be the person who puts a tip in the tip jar at the coffeeshop. (Fewer people tip than youd think!) 22. When you are going somewhere or doing something, ask the people around you if you can pick up anything they need. 23. Give someone a hug. 24. Send dessert to another table. 25. Play board games with senior citizens at a nursing home. 60% of them will never have a visitor during their stay. 26. Give someone a tissue whos crying in the public, and offer to talk about it, but only if they want to. 27. Let someone have the parking spot. 28. Compliment someone in front of others. 29. Hold the elevator. 30. Help your neighbour take our their trash or shovel their driveway just because. 31. Ask a stranger how their day is going. 32. Buy the person behind you their coffee. 33. Tell someone in their family how much you appreciate them. 34. Dont make a negative comment about something even though you want to. 35. Thank as many cashiers as you can when buying things and tell them to have a nice day. 36. Compliment a stranger on a nice jacket or hat for no reason. 37. Help someone struggling with bags. 38. Leave the biggest tip you can afford to lead or leave a bigger tip than you normally do. 38. Help someone who asks, (preferably without giving unsolicited advice). 39. When paying cash put the change in the donation box at the store. 40. Every night you go to bed think of 3 things youre grateful for. 41. Any other small random act of kindness you can think of.
