In light of current news event, I thought I would mention ... I am a survivor of the 2006 Manhattan Blizzard - while we didnt revert to Donner Party tactics, it was tough. A group of nerds and myself - had a software demonstration, showing and meeting in a hotel in the NY area. When we got to the hotel, and settled in , we were informed that the roads were closed, snow had covered everything and we were stuck for the duration. The people of the hotel came out to our group, standing looking out through huge plate glass windows at the blowing snow, piling up as we watched. The manager came and said, I am so sorry - but the only food we have here is this seafood buffet - we had expected several thousand - but they cant get here - so this is all we have. I am so sorry. We walked over , looked and tables and tables of shrimp, grilled, boiled , fried, coconut encrusted shrimp, crab, salmon - cooked in every way you can imagine, many kinds of fish, again cooked in many different ways, clam chowder, and we just stood there. We put our heads together ... and prayed, Please God send more snow.
