In light of the current storm thats struck the Philippines, Christians need to be aware that donating anywhere for the sake of relief may seem like a good thing to do, but that if the organization is not simultaneously providing for the spiritual need for Christ in the heart of the world, were really applying bandages to internal bleeding. Romans 3:23 states that the wages, the just cost, of sin is death. Sins the real problem here, and the storm reminds us of something we all know; that every single one of us dies, and that death is terrifying and unnatural, because we know that we were made for life. And that life is in Christ, and Christ alone. That said, lets give materially to those who are suffering both now and spiritually to those without Christ, who will be suffering by being apart from Him for eternity. Samaritans Purse is a great organization that is currently mobilizing to help with immediate disaster relief. Read about them and their beliefs below. Or find an organization that youve investigated that is both meeting needs with the donations you give, is transparent, and is oriented around the news that Jesus died for sinners, and that God desires to save us from the world that is groaning for His Redemption and His Coming again.
