In light of the recent local episode involving the intersection of religion and print journalism, Im particularly looking forward to this breakout session, tomorrow afternoon: Chicago Tribune writer, Barbara Brotman, will talk and invite conversation about the challenges of writing about the ineffable in a newspaper. Examining stories that have looked at a woman drawn to be a sidewalk preacher, Catholic college seminarians trying to decide whether to become priests, and a retired insurance executive grappling with his beliefs as he faced death, she will speak about how she reports such stories; the role of detail and the importance of trying to capture experiences of spirituality in words. #ccar14, Ill take good notes, and maybe Bob Moore will meet for an IPA on my return :)
