In light of the the anti-vax articles circulating, I think it is important to point out the possible correlation between upper middle class families choosing to not vaccinate and the egregious practices of big pharma. Like Merck. If you dont trust the provider of medicine, why on earth would you drink the kool-aid? Doctors and medical practices in the suit would be able to obtain compensation for having been sold an overpriced monopolized product, and a defective one to boot, in that the mumps vaccine wasnt effective (indeed, the suit alleged that Merck expected outbreaks to occur and, as predicted, they did -- mumps epidemics occurred in 2006 in a highly vaccinated population and again in 2009-2010). For the record… Im not anti-vax at all. My kid has a few genetic mutations and immune cell defects that could result in some gnarly health issues with a couple vaccines. That said, he has most of his shots for the big bad ugly stuff. I believe in herd immunity and am not too keen on seeing Polio resurface.
