In light of the tragic event of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines I surprised that there are actually companies out there that would not be accommodating and sensitive to the situation. I was due to fly to Manila this mooring on a JetStar flight to conduct a series of Lean Startup workshops, but it was clear to me and my local partners that it wasn’t appropriate to go ahead with them to allow my awesome local partners CBS, Freelaner and XXX to focus their efforts on the relief and recovery efforts. Upon contacting JetStar I was faced with the most ridiculous and insensitive options I have ever heard. I was given the choice of a cancelling a non-refundable ticket, loosing 100% of the $270 purchase price, or a $250 change fee. Seriously, is that a real choice in a time of a natural disaster along the scale of Typhoon Haiyan. I am calling on friends, family, colleagues, and business associates to boycott JetStar’s beyond disappointing effort. And ask everyone’s help in lobbying JetStar for a formal apology and a donation to USD 10,000 to support the relief efforts in the Philippines. Is this an unreasonable request given JetStar’s behavour? Please share on all your social networks
