In light of the upcoming visit of Shimon Peres, the former prime minister and president of Israel, a group of us are planning to put the spotlight on Palestinian rights and human rights violations in the region. Our goal is to encourage people to educate themselves about what human rights violations have occurred and continue to occur to Palestinians to open up a constructive conversation. Solidarity with the Palestinian struggle is part and parcel of the struggles to dismantle racism, militarism, and colonialism in the U.S. and other parts of the world. The US plays a significant role in this conflict. (see first video) We will have an informational meeting on WEDNESDAY at 8PM in ALANA, to discuss ways in which we can raise awareness and start constructive dialogues prior to, during, and after Peres’ visit.
