In many ways, this article, which sings the praises of Obamacare, goes to the heart of the philosophical battle around it. In it, the authors openly advocate the income redistribution aspects of the results reached so far. Equally, they measure it not in terms of quality or affordability of care, but rather by the number insured. In many ways, it truly illustrates the modern progressive mindset. America has always strived to redistribute the income by helping people succeed. Government reaching into the pocket of one citizen to take the money and hand it to another citizen (while keeping big part of it to itself), is something that the Soviet Union and China of 20 years ago have clearly demonstrated as unworkable. Yet here we are, walking in the same foot steps. I am not saying that we dont have an income disparity problem of that we dont have a medical care problem. But the roots of these problems come from global economic trends and broken semi-subsidized medical market place respectively. Shifting money between citizens is not the answer. The only thing it does accomplish is punish success and promote mediocrity.
