In meghalaya we are the only state that does not at the local level recognise our very own language...the official language for govt offices is angreji...and till now after 40 odd years of statehood the board exams do not afford the right to children to do exams in the local languages which means that we have already lost many bright minds with clarity if ideas and concepts but who may find it difficult to express and answer in the foreign language called english! For this reason alone there should be a kind of addition if a percentage to scores of students from rural areas in allocating seats into state sponsored professional courses and others..... Should we not hold accountable persons engaged in khasi depts. , linguistics and those who hobnob with the various akademi s for their neglect?
