In mid January there will be a meeting, at our request, between North Norfolk District Council and members of the Armed Forces Community Covenant Board in Norfolk. We have asked that NNDC requests clarity from the Armed Forces Covenant Commissioner regarding who sits on the Awards Panel....What Funds have been received from Government...where was that funding spent and why were 5 out of the 7 Local Authorities (incl NNDC) not represented at those Funding meetings. We/NNDC are also asking for clarification as to why no publicity has been given to the work of the Panel, why it appears that only Veteran Charities in the 2 local authorities represented at the meetings received funds and why the same names of Patrons/Presidents/Committees of those charities also tally with members of the Panel..... Further, we have asked why the fact that there are still funds to be allocated has not been publicised amongst Veteran groups outside of the 2 authorities represented..... We are also challenging those organisations who signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant in Norfolk to explain their lack of compliance to the provisions of the Covenant....some such as NHS Trusts, are beginning to take their commitment seriously whilst others have stated that they did not know what their commitments were (it is all on the County Council website,,,!!) and there are some who have refused to accept their responsibilities...Norwich City Council, Norfolk Police amongst several.... We intend to shame those authorities/organisations (such as RBL Norfolk) who have failed to act !!
