In midst rockets falling on Israel, and Israeli bombing in Gaza, Ive been in contact with my Muslim peacemaker partners from the Abrahamic Reunion. Ibtisam Mahamid shared: last weekend there were crowds of Jews at the entrance of Faradis shouting mavet laravim, Death to the Arabs, the Imam, Hassan Mareh of the central mosque kept the protests in city limits, preventing Arab youth there from throwing stones at cars, in Nazareth, Sufi Sheikh Ghassan Manasra of Nazareth shared that religious Jews in a black vehicle tried to kidnap his son, nephew and another friend- they escaped into the alleys nearby, Ghassan personally lobbied the mayor of Nazareth NOT to allow a major demonstration and protest, that would have gotten out of control, to take place there, I can never forget the Arab mob that rained rocks and molotov cocktails on the bus filled with men, women and children I was traveling in through Wadi Ara last Sat. night... we have maintained our partnership through all this. Clear to me, the real enemy here is not the Arabs, or the Jews, the Zionists or Hamas, but the sitra achra, the satan, the power of the chaos. I recall my late teacher, Rabbi Menachem Fromans call to the Palestinian leadership that now is the the time for a share jihad for peace, a Jihad against the devil that makes the children of Abraham hate one another, and forget we are one family.
