In my discipleship class I was reminded that to be a disciple of Messiah, we need to abide in Him and learn from Him. When we stay connected to Him we can learn to be more like Him, to grow in His character and to learn to walk in His ways. He didnt redeem us so that we would remain the same, but that we would be changed! It hurts to grow and change can be scary, but it makes our lives complete and full of purpose when we are challenged to do new things for Him and His kingdom. I was also reminded to not be afraid to fail when I step out in faith, but to know that He is always there to pick me up, teach me and redirect me. Its okay to take a shot for Jesus and learn through our mistakes. Sometimes it is also good to just wait on His power as we listen and learn from Him. We dont have to stir ourselves up when we feel dry and unmotivated, but can take our weaknesses to Him as we trust Him to do His work in us and to refresh us as we hunger and thirst for His righteousness. We can find joy in becoming more like Him because even in the trials we get to know Him better!
