In my heart, mind & soul it was always going to be a “Win-Win”! What an incredible, amazing experience! And I can’t wait to share my stories with everyone and encourage more young people to get involved! We learned a lot about the process, our community and most of all activated people to take some action! I am overwhelmed with all the love & support that I received during the nomination and elections! I Lots of SMILES, HUGS & LAUGHTER. I loved answering the questions that people had on how civic elections worked, hearing that people were first time voters, people who couldn’t vote-underage or did not have the status to vote still volunteered to help out the team to make a difference. I loved every minute of this experience, even the tough ones because all I had to do was look at the young faces of the children who were hanging out at the campaign office and events or door knocking with their parents in the cold. The positive energy of all of the Vision volunteers, staff and candidates always inspired and ensured me that we were on the right path to keep Vancouver Moving Forward. The connections and re-connections with new and old friends certainly bridged people together-that is priceless to me and will always cherish the relationships that were created. I am grateful for everyone who was involved in the campaign from making food, making phones call, door knocking with me and on their own in the rain & cold, taking a window or lawn sign, main-streeting holding up my sign, attending my bday fundraiser, donating funds, posting on FB and tweeting words of encouragement, newspaper articles, endorsements, drivers, admin and clean up at the VV office- you name it, you were part of our SUCCESS with Gregor Robertson and the Vision Team. I am soooo PROUD of all the volunteers who stepped up, It’s a MOVEMENT & it’s only just beginning! On to the Next!!! To the 42,863 who voted for me if I could hand write all of you a thank you note or give you a hug, you know I would, but for now, please know that I HEAR you and will still be at service to Vancouverites and be that voice! Here’s to OUR LEGACY: “You must behave as if your every act, even the smallest, impacted a thousand people for a hundred generations. Because it does”
