In my life, I have taught 257 young girls and boys music...wow...time flys...Out of the lot 3 grammys 16 schorships to music school in Boston...( not Lee Venters who is a great teacher in Wilmington and you should check him out....just great). I am down to my last student as I feel I have done my service. I am by no means the Holy grail, but I did love to teach. If they did not go on to music, they soared in there focus.... A good teacher never has secrets, as this will destroy a relationship. It is a young kid who listens to every word... I taught them everything I knew and then some....I found it amazing the things they would share. One deep thing I would always share as a growing into man ....If you have a problem and you need to talk it off, go to your Mom. Mom has this innate qaulity that the words go no where but to her soul. Second do not make this your life, its just is a part of it. If you find that if playing becomes too much...walk away. Remember , you are leaving it ...it is not leaving you. and the the last...Music is not a fashion statement. Anyone can look good, but music makes you feel good. I have already gotten this young boy in a music program. he wants to play with the Boston so...I say lets do it...What a fun ride to teach all these wonderful people.....And now it is my turn to teach myself again.
