In my middle school methods class we have been tasked with - TopicsExpress

In my middle school methods class we have been tasked with creating an interdisciplinary unit. My group chose World War II. I was, of course, okay with this. Then I ended up with the math portion. Now, I am pretty good with math, but I am not going to be teaching it at this level, ever. After helping my group come up with ideas and content for the science and social studies pieces of the unit, (subjects I will more likely teach, as they are my content areas) I then had to come up with math activities to fit the curriculum, which was very difficult. I had some good ideas, but i had to stretch a bit to shoehorn them into standards. The sheer number of hours I have put into this project is almost soul-crushing, considering that I might never be able to use it. Five lesson plans, including worksheets and solutions (which I meticulously researched in order to find actual facts to use in the problems) a final assessment, and a battery of other evaluative and presentational materials. It is crazy. I just got the last of the information tonight from the person who has been tasked to help us differentiate our plans for teaching the material to non-native English speakers. Almost done. We present tomorrow evening. Sorry for the long-winded post. I just needed to vent.
