In my naive, head-in-the-sand ways, I am not reading Newspaper since I got to Bangladesh. I haven’t watched TV in almost 20 years. I am still hearing things... The ferric, oppressive smell of the spilled blood of the poor, the powerless, the dispossessed terrify me every time I am reminded of the benefit or the privilege of my education or class. The thousand dead in Rana Plaza, the thousands clashing for a minimum wage of $100/month, the 3 burned to death yesterday by the islamists, the women, the poor, the workers, the minorities-- would you absolve my sin that, I want these atrocities to go on by participating in the institutional structure and the framework of consistent systemic history that lead to it ...
