In my past I have been encouraged; sometimes pushed and even criticized for not setting goals. I recently attended a photography seminar and again heard many of the key presenters speak of goal setting. As a self determined yet clearly not self taught photographic artist of 20+ years I have attended on average 4; 3 day or longer and 15 day long seminars EVERY year. Most everyone I know speaks of how goal setting is a vital part of achieving direction in ones life. For me...I have been content with general goals and seeing them come to reality. Today I find myself setting four very distinctive goals. They revolve around the core of who I am: *Christian (spiritual maturity) *Family (becoming a better wife; mom; grandma; friend) *Career (as an artist and other opportunities that come from that) *Self (allowing myself another passion to be fulfilled) Today I did some soul searching and research on three of the four. I have forever had a passion that has been yet to be released. If you know me you know my passion for music and how it touches those who find it. As a cancer survivor you know my left hand falls short of normal. I have forever had a desire to learn to play an instrument...piano or guitar would have been my choice. Pretty sure that would be somewhat impossible to try let alone burden any sort of teacher with that challenge. It dawned on me this week sitting in the airport listening to a beautiful arrangement of Just as I am that one instrument I could attempt would be one with a bow. So today I did research on playing a violin (sorry Philip Kostreva) left handed. To my surprise but excitement I found lots of information and even educational resources that support that option. Maybe one day I will have the opportunity to play with the great EirikandBrigette Shevy on her harp. The Lord has so blessed my life over the years. I thank Him daily for the opportunities to see my goals and accept them for what He has planned.
