In my past life I was an investment banker, and in 2001 I wrote a book titled The Protective Cell Captive Insurance Bible . In writing this book I became good friends with Chris Mancini of captive who invited me to present at the Risk Water Derivative Conference on September 11, 2001 at Window on World Restaurant. I missed my flight from Austin the night before and was really upset that I missed the opportunity to present a book I spent a year writing. When the terrorist attacked as a preventive measure the FCC shut down all phone communication in NYC. Unfortunately my dad (who lived in NYC) knew I was going to be at the towers and after this happened went to ground zero to look for me. It wasnt until about 9:30 PM that they restored phone service, so that I could tell my dad I was alright. My dad was my hero, he was at ground zero, looking for me. His courage was only dwarfed by the size of his heart and his desire to help everyone he met. His courage would play another pivotal part in my life 5 years later, when he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cholangiocarcinoma which had spread into his liver and colon. Given only 3 months to live my father, sister and I embarked on a journey which covered 3 continents and 25 hospitals. Instead of living 3 months my dad lived another 18 months, and instilled my with a purpose in life which is cancer.im So to the guy who was my hero, cancer.im is my way of saying thanks Dad--You are missed and loved You Son Chris
