In my reading this morning I came across an interesting passage in 2 Corinthians. You hear a lot of talk about how God will test us, how God wants to see if our faith can stand the fire. But in the passage I read this morning we are instructed on occasion to conduct our own inquiry. Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith. The image that came to mind this morning was a kid studying for the SAT by giving himself a practice test. One of the great moments of personal growth is learning what it is that you dont know- where it is that you need to grow and what areas you need to focus. If you do it correctly the self test is supposed to make the real test easier. So think about this: how can you test your faith today?
