In my work as a marital therapist, Ive found in practically every marriage that the woman doesnt feel safe and secure in her husbands ability to defend and protect her (self-respect and dignity). This often makes her turn to someone else in times of trouble, sometimes just for emotional support. This is akin to Draupadis situation in the Mahabharatha: A woman can have not one but five husbands and still be vulnerable and unsafe. Repeatedly, she needs to rely on an outsider (Shri Krishna) for protection and support. Lucky Draupadi, she had Govind Himself as Sakha... but evidently, being married does not necessarily guarantee support and protection...
