In my world, when I get frustrated by the job I’m doing or - TopicsExpress

In my world, when I get frustrated by the job I’m doing or anxious to complete a long drawn out project, I find it helps to look back to see how much has been accomplished. No, this is not a victory lap but that moment when you step back from what you’ve been building and give it a good look, or like my mom used to do,…put down the needle and pick up the dress you are working on and hold it up to see “how it hangs”. My Dad would say, “lets step back and give it a look” and my granddaddy would climb down off the tractor under the shade tree in the middle of his field and get a drink of water and look back over his furrows in the field to make sure they were straight. Today I have posted a few photos of the bead board shutter and window from the side porch which started off this trek,… stacked in a corner, unidentified and covered with dirt and cobwebs. But today it stands, cradled in its “flat” as it takes its place among those pieces that are currently being displayed and talked about. I love sharing the story of this little window and shutter because their part in the movie is in a scene with Butterfly McQueen (Prissy) at my favorite spot (the side porch). And the window and bead board shutter are the best preserved and are so well made that it is a fine example of how Selznick worked to make things on the set so authentic. Due to the number of folks who have found this site over the last few weeks and have little knowledge of the past events with the Tara façade, I am posting the first YouTube video I shot in the barn on my blog site this morning (https://tumblr/blog/savingtara). The Tara façade and all its pieces were everywhere that day but before we could get to them we had to move go carts, sinks and toilets and 20+ years of dirt. I brought the crew to film for I had no idea if I would be allowed to come back after my first trip and had no idea why this iconic piece of Hollywood history had been neglected for so long. But like so much of the story of the façade, she reveals herself just like a lady, a little information at a time…. I’ll be waiting for you up at the gate. Peter
