In no particular order Im gonna give you a little list of 5 predictions each I got right and predictions I got wrong from this year . Some of them you might know from the page while others were private thoughts from me: THINGS PREDICTED WRONG: 1. Wooden Spooner: I predicted GWS to grab the wooden spoon again this year, but the popular choice of St Kilda proved to be the correct one. 2. Minor Premiers: On a similar vein, I picked the Hawks to be the top team this year, unfortunately a bad run of injuries saw them hit an icy patch and Sydney took hold of the top of the ladder and never gave it up. 3. Adelaide Crows: I predicted the Crows to rebound and finish in the top 8 after last years season was interrupted due to injury. Unfortunately further injuries and inconsistent form ruined this pick. 4. Giving the Demons a negative grade for Bernie Vince and Dom Tyson (note that a negative grade here denotes a C or lower): I thought Bernie Vince would bust at his new home and I thought trading the number 2 pick to GWS was boneheaded by the Demons for a player that was less than worth that, but they proved me wrong and became very valuable contributors to the Melbourne midfield this year. 5. Predicting McCartney and Malthouse to be the first coaches to go: Yeah pretty much everyone whiffed on this one as Sanderson was shockingly sacked. THINGS I GOT RIGHT: 1. My draft predictions for Brisbane: I said James Aish and Lewis Taylor would be the two biggest steals in the draft and while players like Tom Langdon will provide great claim to being the biggest steal, value wise getting Aish and Taylor proved to be great steals for the Lions. 2. My Rising Star prediction: My pick of Lewis Taylor over the more touted Marcus Bontempelli paid off by a solitary vote. 3. North finished top 4: Ok I know technically this is cheating as North finished 6th, but I feel I can claim this one as North will officially finish 4th after the finals series is taken into account. 4. Predicting Freo would fall: I predicted that Fremantle would not sustain their grand final berth and while still being a top 4 team would slip a little, that much has proven true. 5. Predicting my Power to improve: A large amount of footy experts predicted the Power would slide out the top 8, but I figured they would finish around 5th and go one better in the finals and that proved to be exactly right, finishing 5th in the regular season and getting to the preliminary final and coming agonizingly short. What predictions did you get right/wrong for the year? -JW
